About the job

For a dynamic and growing company in Ghent, we are looking for a Credit Controller. As Credit Controller, you are responsible for managing the accounts receivable portfolio, monitoring payment terms and minimising financial risks. You play a crucial role in maintaining a healthy cash flow and good customer relations. You will work closely with the finance department and the sales team to receive payments on time.


Your responsibilities

  • Accounts receivable management: Managing the accounts receivable portfolio, following up on outstanding invoices and initiating payment reminders.
  • Monitor payment deadlines: Ensure compliance with payment deadlines and light reminders when necessary.
  • Communication with customers: Liaise with customers to reach payment agreements, answer queries and resolve payment issues.
  • Risk analysis: evaluating customer risks and proactively proposing actions to minimise the risk of default.
  • Payment proposals: Negotiate payment arrangements with customers and ensure timely payment.
  • Internal collaboration: Working closely with the sales and finance team to resolve payment issues quickly and improve cash flow.
  • Reporting: Prepare periodic reports on the status of the accounts receivable portfolio and cash flow for management.
  • Administration: Properly administering customer payments and updating the customer system.

Who are you?

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accountancy, Business Economics or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years’ experience in a credit control function or similar administrative position within finance.
  • Competences:
    • Strong communication skills and customer-oriented attitude.
    • Accurate and structured in managing an accounts receivable portfolio.
    • Experience with accounts receivable management software and accounting systems (e.g. SAP, Exact).
    • Knowledge of credit assessment and risk analysis.
    • Good knowledge of Excel and reporting tools.
  • Language: fluent in Dutch, knowledge of English is a plus.
