About the job

For a dynamic company in Aalst, we are looking for a driven Financial Controller. In this role, you will be responsible for financial management and internal controls within the company. You will analyse the financial performance, prepare reports and assist in drawing up the budget and the strategic financial policy. As Financial Controller, you are the link between the finance team and management, actively contributing to the growth and financial health of the company.

Your responsibilities

• Financial reporting: Preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual reports and analysing the figures.
• Budgeting and forecasting: preparing and monitoring budgets and forecasts for the future.
• Cash flow management: Ensuring optimal cash flow by monitoring payments and liquidity.
• Cost control: Analysing costs and advising management on cost-saving measures.
• Internal controls: Perform internal audits and controls to ensure financial processes.
• Year-end: Supervising the year-end closing and supporting the external auditors.
• Strategic advice: Active participation in strategic discussions and financial planning within the management team.

Who are you?

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accountancy, Finance, Business Economics or similar.
• Experience: Minimum 5 years’ experience in a finance role, preferably as Financial Controller or in a similar position.
• Technical knowledge:
  • Experience with accounting and ERP systems (such as SAP, Navision, Exact).
  • Strong knowledge of financial analysis, reporting and budgeting.
  • Excellent command of MS Office, especially Excel (pivot tables, charts, etc.).
• Competences:
  • Analytically strong and able to interpret financial data and translate it into strategic advice.
  • Proactive, accurate and results-oriented.
  • Strong communication skills to clearly convey financial information.
• Language skills: Fluent in Dutch and English; French is a plus.
