About the job

For a leading company in Ghent, we are looking for a Financial Controller. In this role, you will be responsible for managing financial performance and preparing detailed financial reports. You will support management in making strategic decisions by providing valuable insights and analysis. As Financial Controller, you will work closely with other departments to optimise financial processes and drive the business forward.

Your responsibilities

• Financial reporting: preparing monthly, quarterly and annual results, including profit and loss accounts and balance sheet reports.
• Budgeting & Forecasting: preparing and monitoring budgets and forecasts, analysing deviations and proposing corrective actions.
• Cost analysis: Conducting in-depth cost analyses and advising management on cost savings and efficiency improvements.
• Internal controls: Ensuring the integrity of financial data by implementing strong internal control mechanisms.
• Financial strategy: Thinking about the company’s long-term financial strategy and contributing to key business decisions.
• Compliance & tax reporting: Ensuring compliance with laws and regulations and preparing tax returns.
• Ad-hoc analyses: Performing financial analysis and reporting for management and other departments.

Who are you?

• Education: Master’sdegree in Accountancy-Tax, Business Economics, Finance or other relevant field.
• Experience: Minimum 4 years’ experience as a Financial Controller, Business Controller or in a similar position.
• Competences:
  • Strong analytical skills and in-depth knowledge of financial processes.
  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting and preparing financial reports.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to convey complex financial data clearly.
  • Knowledge of ERP systems and advanced skills in Excel (experience with SAP or other accounting software is a plus).
• Language: Fluent Dutch, knowledge of English and/or French is a plus.
