About the role
For a developing company in Aalst, we are searching for a GL Accountant. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing the general ledger and ensuring the prompt and precise processing of all financial data. You will interact with the accounting systems, carry out monthly and annual closures, and contribute to the financial status reporting of the company. As a GL Accountant, you will play a crucial role in the finance team to ensure the smooth operation of financial records.
Your duties
- General ledger oversight: Supervising general ledger accounts and promptly entering financial transactions.
- Monthly and year-end closures: Ensure precise monthly and year-end closure of accounts.
- Internal reporting: Preparing periodic reports and authenticating financial information.
- VAT returns: Preparation and submission of VAT returns and other tax obligations.
- Balance sheet examination: Performing balance sheet analysis and preparing management reports.
- Audit readiness: Engage in preparing for audits and provide essential records.
- Cost assessment: Analyzing expenses and identifying improvement opportunities.

Who are you?
- Educational background: Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Business Economics, Finance, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 2 years’ experience as a GL Accountant or in a similar position.
- Technical expertise:
- Experience with accounting software and ERP systems (such as SAP, Exact, Navision).
- Proficient in MS Office, particularly Excel (pivot tables, functions, etc.).
- Understanding of tax and accounting regulations.
- Skills:
- Precise and analytical.
- Capable of working independently and planning efficiently.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Linguistic abilities: Fluent in Dutch and English, with French as a valuable addition.
