About the job

For a growing company in Aalst, we are looking for a GL Accountant. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the general ledger and ensure the timely and accurate processing of all financial data. You will work with the accounting systems, provide monthly and annual closures, and contribute to the reporting of the company’s financial status. As GL Accountant, you will be a crucial link in the finance team, ensuring that the financial records run smoothly.

Your responsibilities

• General ledger management: Managing general ledger accounts and entering financial transactions in a timely manner.
• Monthly and year-end closures: Ensure correct monthly and year-end closing of accounts.
• Internal reporting: Preparing periodic reports and checking financial data.
• VAT returns: Preparation and filing of VAT returns and other tax obligations.
• Balance sheet review: Performing balance sheet analysis and preparing management reports.
• Audit preparations: Participate in audit preparation and provide required documentation.
• Cost analysis: Analysing costs and identifying opportunities for improvement.

Who are you?

• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Business Economics, Finance or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum 2 years’ experience as a GL Accountant or in a similar position.
• Technical knowledge:
  • Experience with accounting software and ERP systems (such as SAP, Exact, Navision).
  • Good knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel (pivot tables, formulas, etc.).
  • Knowledge of tax and accounting legislation.
• Competences:
  • Accurate and analytical.
  • Be able to work independently and plan well.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
• Language skills: Fluent in Dutch and English, French is a plus.
