About the job

For a leading organisation in Dendermonde, we are looking for a GL Accountant. In this role, you will be responsible for the correct processing of financial data and the preparation of reliable reports. You are a key player in the monthly and annual closures and ensure that the general accounting runs smoothly.

Your responsibilities

• Accounting: Managing general ledger accounts and performing periodic reconciliations.
• Closings: Prepare and execute monthly, quarterly and annual closures.
• Reporting: Preparation of financial reports and management information.
• VAT returns: Preparing and filing VAT returns and other legal obligations.
• Internal control: Ensuring correct application of accounting and tax legislation.
• Audit support: Preparing and supervising internal and external audits.
• Process improvement: Actively contribute to the optimisation of financial processes and systems.
• Ad-hoc tasks: Support the finance team on various projects and analyses.

Who are you?

• Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accountancy, Finance or equivalent financial discipline.
• Experience: Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role as a GL Accountant.
• Technical knowledge:
  • Good knowledge of Belgian accounting rules (BE GAAP).
  • Experience with ERP systems (preferably SAP or Navision).
  • Excellent Excel skills.
• Competences:
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Proactive and solution-oriented.
  • Team player with good communication skills.
• Language skills: Fluent in Dutch, good knowledge of English; knowledge of French is a plus.
