About the job

For a growing company in Lokeren, we are looking for a GL Accountant. As a GL Accountant, you will be responsible for managing the general ledger accounts and ensure that the company’s financial data is processed correctly and on time. You will work closely with other finance departments to ensure reliable and efficient accounting. You will have a key role in closing monthly and annual accounts and ensuring that the company complies with all tax obligations.

Your responsibilities

• General ledger management: Managing general ledger records, including posting journal entries, processing financial transactions and ensuring the accuracy of entries.
• Month-end and year-end closures: Providing monthly, quarterly and year-end closures and preparing the balance sheet and income statement.
• Accounting reporting: Preparing financial reports and analysing the figures to support management.
• Internal controls: Ensuring the accuracy and completeness of financial data by implementing internal control measures.
• Tax returns: Preparing VAT returns and other tax reports and ensuring tax compliance.
• Collaboration: Working closely with other finance teams and supporting the auditors during the annual audit.
• Improvements: Proposing improvements in processes and systems to increase accounting efficiency.

Who are you?

• Education: A bachelor’s or master’s degree in Accountancy-Tax, Business Economics or a related field.
• Experience: Minimum 2-3 years’ experience as a GL Accountant or in a similar role in a dynamic organisation.
• Knowledge: Thorough knowledge of accounting principles, general ledger management, VAT regulations and experience with accounting software (preferably ERP systems).
• Analytical: You have strong analytical skills and an eye for detail.
• Communicative: You can communicate clearly and have a good knowledge of the Dutch language.
• Independent: You are proactive, can work independently and know how to set priorities.
