About the job

For a growing company in Mechelen, we are looking for an accurate and proactive GL Accountant. In this role, you will be responsible for managing the general ledger and play an important role in financial reporting. You will work closely with the finance team to ensure accurate and timely administration.

Your responsibilities

• General ledger management: Manage general ledger accounts and ensure correct accounting.
• Closings: Prepare and execute monthly, quarterly and annual closures.
• Balance sheet items: Reconciliation and analysis of balance sheet items.
• VAT returns: Preparing and filing VAT returns and other tax obligations.
• Audit preparation: Assist with internal and external audits.
• Reporting: Preparation of financial reports and analyses.
• Process optimisation: Contribute to improvements in financial processes and systems.

Who are you?

• Education: Bachelor or Master’s degree in Accountancy, Finance or a similar field.
• Experience: Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar role as a GL Accountant or Financial Accountant.
• Technical knowledge:
  • Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Navision, Oracle) is a plus.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel.
• Competences:
  • Accurate and analytically strong.
  • Good organisational skills and able to work independently.
• Language skills: Fluent in Dutch; knowledge of English is a plus.
