About the job

For a rapidly growing company in Mechelen, we are looking for a driven Payroll Accountant. In this versatile role, you will be responsible for managing both payroll administration and its financial processing. You will act as an important link between the HR and Finance departments and contribute to efficient and accurate payroll administration.


Your responsibilities

  • Payroll administration: Processing the entire payroll for both blue and white collar workers in cooperation with a social secretary.
  • Social documents: Preparation and submission of social documents and returns (NSSO, Dimona, etc.).
  • Cost processing: booking and reconciling payroll-related costs in the financial accounts.
  • Reporting: Preparation of monthly reports on payroll and personnel costs.
  • Monitoring and optimisation: Analyse payroll processes and suggest improvements.
  • Tax obligations: Ensure correct application of tax and social legislation.
  • Consulting: Supporting HR and Finance in budgeting and forecasting staff costs.

Who are you?

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accountancy, Finance or an HR-related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years’ experience in payroll or similar position.
  • Technical knowledge:
    • Thorough knowledge of social legislation and payroll software.
    • Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Exact, etc.) is a plus.
    • Strong in Excel for analysis and reporting.
  • Competences:
    • Accurate, analytical and solution-oriented.
    • Communicatively strong and discreet.
    • Ability to work proactively and independently.
  • Language skills: Fluent in Dutch; knowledge of English or French is a plus.
